As far as I know Russia attacked only the South Ossetian part where ca 90% of the population whants independance or they rather want to belong to russia. Thats just like when Kosovo declared soverignity which Nato supported and Russia did not.
So I get what your saying but there is not comparison between the two conflicts .

you're right about the actual conflicts, vastly different.
Its the US (mainly the right) reaction to the use of overwhelming force with civilian casualties that is deafeningly silent.

Again we have international calls for a cease fire but this time Bush seems somewhat slow in condemning the killings, but he has a good reason I guess, he is out biking so we should cut him some slack.
