The reason I didn't directly talk about aspartame (which is much more common than saccharin anyway, making it strange they chose to use saccharin in the study) is because it wasn't used in the new rat study.

But hey, like I wrote, if I use diet products they are almost always flavored with Splenda (generally regard to be the safest according to many organizations, including outside the US).  Sure there are some conspiracy kooks who think anything other than raw (and organic) fruits and vegetables will kill you, but I'm somewhere in between.
