Capital of the Confederacy. I grew up there in the 60s and 70s when racism was still very much alive and out in the open. Really most of my extended family were hideous racists. Even my mom was racist in her own way (Julia, you can't get a sofa there, that's where the blacks go).
Seems I've always been a blue heart in a red state.
I lived for a while in Northern California. What a breath of fresh air!
