As much as the Democrats want this election, frankly I think it is a hot potatoe and whoever ends up catching it is going to get burned.  I'm seriously thinking of voting for McCain even though I like Obama a lot because I think there's a high probability things could get even worse over the course of the year.  Whoever wins is going to be expected to pull our country out of a recession, solve a credit and housing crisis, deal with Iraq, and do something about $4 gas prices. 

I think people underestimate the degree to which GW has fucked this country up and it is going to take time and patience that I'm not sure the American people have.  I'm thinking along the lines of Jimmy Carter.  No mater how good a job you do with a shitty situation, its still a shitty situation and you're going to get the boot if you don't fix it.  Whoever the other side puts up in 2012 will then have an oportunity to swoop in and ride on to victory (think Regan).

The GOP won 7 out of the last 10 presidential elections. It's impossible to win every time, so why not sit back and lose this one?

Let President Barack Hussein Obama solve all of the problems. If he fails, imagine the potential for recrimination: "You stupid liberals elected a.."
