I learned how to make real bagels from a Sunset magazine recipe back in the 1970s.  Oh man, they are the best!  The bagels you find in the west are often just bread in a ring shape.

I rarely eat bagels (too many carbs for me), but when I do, I love the "everything" bagel.

And of course something like a blueberry bagel with cream cheese.
