I was floating off the coast of Nam when McCain and other POW's were released. At the time, I thought people were throwing the word "hero" around with recklessness. I never have been able to understand why someone captured automatically becomes a "hero." They were doing their job - killing people - and got caught. How is that "heroic?"

By that logic, all of the Guantanimo detainees and those held in other secret US holding facilities are chock full of "heroes."

Really? Is that all it takes? Or is that just another piece of phony "patriot" propaganda? This nonsense that anyone who wears a uniform is a "hero" is sad and really takes away from the true heroes.

*and* a dead-end.

As logical and relevant as that might be, that line will flop and inflame the majority of Americans, including the critical low-info "could go either way" voters.

It shouldn't be that way, but it is. You gotta pick your battles (I'm speaking generally).

When Cenk says he's heroic, it tosses a nice bone to those low-info voters who reflexively believe it to be true making it more likely that they'll take the rest seriously or less skeptically.
