Dems (myself included) would NEVER do that (none / 0)
Can you imagine what the reaction would be from the right, and more importantly, from the mainstream media?

There would be no MSM left, their heads would explode! There would be 24 hour wall to wall coverage of how the un-American Democrats were trying to bash a decorated war hero.

But when it was done to Kerry in 04, crickets chirped. Forget the swift-boaters, the fake purple hearts in the audience at the (R) convention was one of the most blatant and insane smears ever in moder history, and the MSM was incredibly quiet about it relatively speaking.

I don't know when this happened (none / 0)
but we really dicked ourselves when we became above it.  Honestly, we should all be above it (Republicans included), but we've created this catch 22 where we look sleazy if we smear them and weak if we don't.
