Last night, KCNC-TV, Channel 4, reported that Johnson had told the Secret Service that the group planned to kill Obama during his acceptance speech at Invesco Field at Mile High Thursday night.
In an interview with the station, Johnson said:
"He don't belong in political office. Blacks don't belong in political office. He ought to be shot."
I went to see Obama speak in Boston in December. They were passing people through a metal detector as they entered the building, and looking through bags, but after a while they quit and by the time I got to the front of the line they were just letting you walk in. I recall thinking how easy it would be to get a weapon in there.
I hope things have improved since then.
