If there's a hole in the tree it may have been made by carpenter ants.  They're not particularly aggressive but they may not be able to pass up such an easy meal, so check first.

I can hardly accept that a person (bobo) is willing to bet the farm merely on the belief that "...rednecks and farmers" will be the difference in this political race.  I DO beleive that rednecks and farmers hold the balance of votes in this 'farming/agricultural state.'  But, that is not how bobo is using his meaning of rednecks and farmers.

Unfortunately, we all know what bobo really means; and there is that percentage.  I've only visited there, but based on my visits, I believe strongly on the way you describe it Chris.
