you though I was going to chime in and repeat that Palin is more of a risk than Obama. But instead I want to bring to people's attention the risk of electing McCain himself, regardless of who the VP is (but Sarah certainly doesn't help)...
The man is friggin 72. We all know that already you say, and you nod your head indifferently as I say he may not make it through his first 4 years. Yes, for sure. But think about this: the man is friggin 72.
What does that mean? It means HE HAS NOTHING TO LOSE. There I said it. The man is old and if he fucks up because of a bad decision or mis-calculation or anything, guess what: no big deal, he doesn't have much more time on earth anyways.
I know this probably sounds super harsh, but I have always joked with friends about when I get to be like 70-80 I'm not going to give a fuck about anyone or anything, what do I have to lose? I might steal a kid's swing and tell its mom to frick off and kiss my ass cause I'm 80. Or I might moon the Queen of England... who cares, at least when I die I can say "hey, I mooned the queen"
So its this attitude that I am fretting. I think its risky, cause if Obama fucks up somehow with policy or a war or anything he will have to live the rest of his life defending his mistakes and seeing their conswequences on the people around him etc. I'm not trying to suggest that McCain would put the American people or America in harms way: I am merely expressing the fact that
HE can take more risks with less consequences to have to worry about.
Example senario: Iran "may" have WMDs. The evidence pointing to it is 50% in favor. Isreal is itching for us to attack. People are breathing down his back telling him we'd make a lot of $$ off of this and the war "would pay for itself." He gets delusional and starts thinking (much like Bush) "how great would it be if we really DID find WMDs there, I would go down in history as a hero! The history books would wrie of me and generations would admire me..." He attacks. No WMDs (we become less safe, the economy gets screwed, more anti-American sentiment around, and countless other disasters happen)... Oh well, by the time the media and historians catch up he will be long gone, and perhaps, taht's a risk he might be willing to take.
After all, he
is a
gambler.
