I don't know about that source it's incredibly over the top, half of the article is taken up talking about 1984.

here is some information on the case,

- She was first issued an ASBO (Anti-Social Behavior Order) which stated:

"shouting, screaming or vocalisation at such a level as to be a statutory nuisance"

I guess this could be applied to the whole of England, as the article states, but she would have to be causing a nuisance so I think sound proofed room or woods would be fine.

- 250 complaints had been filed, and not all by the same neighbor, before the issue of the ASBO. (this had being going on for 2 years)

She was issued the ASBO and then broke it 3 days later, that is why she is back in court.

"I've been making the same noises since the ASBO was imposed, and this morning, we were making noises for three hours." Mrs Cartwright

I'd be curious to know if the ASBO thing is as bad as the article makes it out to be. Obviously the guy who wrote that was fired up, assuming he's a libertarian living in the UK, his blood pressure is probably through the roof. You're right, what's stated as fact in there might not be. Still, it seems like these ASBOs are pretty lame in that they let allow the govt. to restrict people from doing all sorts of random minor stuff. The idea rubs me the wrong way, like a lot of stuff I hear of the UK govt. doing.

Should a government ban loud sex?! Of cooooooooooooourse not! But should the government be allowed to address noise issues and loud neighbors, Of course they should!

Most domestic crimes or crimes by "non career criminal" usually starts out by some small issue and escalates, thats why when cops deals with loud music or a loud fight, and yes even loud sex, it should not be taken lightly or poo pooed on so readily. Should we get upset when the government deals with loud jets and planes and puts restrictions on these vehicles and where they can fly to keep the noise down? Should we get upset when the government builds walls next to freeways to keep noise down? The answer is of course not.

They aren't banning loud sex, they are trying to keep the woman from being a disturbance. The couple can easily sound proof their room and or drown out the noise with some music or a fountain or just stick a pillow in her mouth!
