We know why any discussion of a New World Order causes "these people" to freak out.  Because "these people" are largely Conservative or dazzled into being brainwashed by the Conservative talking points.

"America is blessed by God.  These other horrible countries are not.  Therefore, we owe it to God to keep America as the shining example of perfection to the world.  If you have countries participating together, then you automatically will have one faceless inter-federal ruler calling all the shots.  Any chance that this person will be benevolent and useful rather than Orwellian-level evil and punitive?  Of course not--not to a paranoid Conservative mind.  Once this happens, America is gone and Jesus will weep that the one country He loved and blessed now has to take orders from countries like France and Ooga-Boogathiopia and Jihadistan and Siestaquita and Commieshtayaskiyevv.  Soon we'll have to give up all of our bombs and be hypnotized and surrender all of our freedoms and eat gruel while working in a nail factory in snowy Finland--just to satisfy the unquenchable bloodlust from the impervious ruler of the world. 

Working together to solve climate change?  Communism--red as the Devil Himself.  Trying to bargain down our unnecessarily enormous missile arsenals with other countries?   That's a direct line to us all wearing burkas and cutting infidels' arms off by next summer.  Trying to combat world hunger?  Well, obviously that means that no American will ever be interested in doing any work again, since the NWO is just gonna hand everybody out bags of rice and tap water twice a month, and so what's the point?

Every question on this forum for which we seek a logical answer comes up with the same conclusion;  Conservatives are no longer sane.  Not just terrible for the country and the world in every possible way, but literally crazy, and so afraid of any change in the world that the _default_ slope of any discussion of anything unfamiliar is now the astonishingly normal summoning of Hitler taking over the world and throwing all "real Americans" into ovens.  Every tiny development in the world is now a guaranteed and immediate journey straight to Nazi dystopia.
