The more that I read your articles, Ryskeldi, the more sad I feel.  It seems to me that with the near complete corruption of the government, there is no hope for creating a free and open society in the near future.  We could simply end up with another poverty-stricken and brutal dictatorship that could survive for decades.  With two Russian military bases inside the country, and despite the threat of war with the country's neighbor, the dictatorship seems to have all the support it needs to remain in power for a many years.

I hope that Mr. Beshimov, if he is still in the United States, seeks asylum here.  Regretfully, I don't believe there is anything that he can do to save his country, and his death or imprisonment will accomplish no good end.
