The last time I discussed politics with a conservative I was blow away by his though processes. This was someone who I had debated many times with prior about religion. He is Hardcore Christian and I am Athiest so it is enjoyable.
But the last conversation was just plain stupid. I was also told that he didn't trust Obama based on a gut feeling. He procedded to throw out some ridiculous Beck talking points and I shot them down but then he said something that I had never heard.
He said that in Obama's book The Audactity of Hope he wrote that he supported Terroists over Americans or something totally off the wall bat crazy. I had never read the book but I pushed him on it some more and of corse he had never read the book but he did hear some other interesting "fact" about it. Appaently that is why Obama had pulled his books from the shelves during the campaign.
Once again I went slightly numb from the stupid hammer that had just been smashed into my skull. After some more of me try to impart some sanity onto him by searching the web for any news articles that related to Obama pulling his books from the shleves. Of course there were only things like "Obama's books fly from store shelves everywhere," but he was still not convinced.
He actually said that the reason there was nothing was because they covered it up by removing any traces of it from the internet. I had no idea how to convince him of anything after that but I did ask where he heard it, I asked what news he watched and he said "none, the news is corrupt." He had heard it from his father who also didn't watch the news but was apparently told all this by people at work who did watch Fox news.
Now that I am looking at this wall of text that I typed out I am kind of wondering where I was going with it but I think it was just my story of an arguement where all opinion was based of a gut feeling. Sorry to anyone who read this.
