I love muslims. Apart from the fact that they're literally the politest people in the world, in my own opinion, I love the fact that my country is increasingly pluralistic. It gives me much honour to know I share my country with many other interesting cultures, and I draw value from learning about them.

Unfortunately, in America today, Muslims are the new communists. They're the constant target of ideological extremists in the neoconservative and fundamentalistic conservative movements, and the media is stupid enough to propagate their intolerance because, as someone else said, Muslims are second class citizens in America. Nearly no one defends them. Nearly no one takes the time to understand them, let alone talk to them. That's why they are easy targets for the media.

One possible solution would be to encourage muslims to become more politically active in our respective democracies. Encourage them to run for mayor, or state senator, governor, congress, the Senate, and yeah, president. Ask them to talk publically about their political views so both the conservatives and the liberals can see that muslims are, indeed, regular conservatives and liberals and not some outside group the paranoid think are trying to invade America.
