There are several proven progressive radio talents who are much more likely to get the nod at MSNBC over Cenk. Nationally syndicated talk hosts like Stephanie Miller, Ed Schultz, Randi Rhodes, and Phil Hendrie are attracting very impressive ratings numbers. I hope Cenk gets the job but he is a longshot, at best.

that all of those hosts suck.  They must not have heard.

If anything is more obnoxious than Stephanie Miller on the radio, it would be Stephanie Miller on TV.  I don't think sound effect humor really translates well to video.

Miller: Perfect as a morning drive-time jock, which is something that (unless you're Howard Stern, apparently) translates horribly into television. They already tried her out once in the morning, before deciding to step sideways and go with "Morning Joe".

Schultz: Of this group, he'd have the best shot. I like Ed, though he occasionally is a little too "blue-dog" for my taste. But has he been angling for a TV gig? As the most successful progressive radio host out there, why would he want to shake the tree?

Rhodes: I love Randi, and I wouldn't want to see her change a thing. Which is perfect, because she's said numerous times that she wants absolutely no part of the television world. Besides, her previous history and supposed "mistakes" in judgment might make her a second-tier candidate at best.

Hendrie: Who? I honestly don't know who that is. Pardon my ignorance.

To be honest, I would agree that Cenk only has an outside chance at a prime-time slot on MSNBC. Remember, however, that there are TONS of cable networks looking for a youth demographic - it doesn't even have to be a news channel, really.

More than anything, I think it's time TYT got the attention and respect it deserves.

TYT in '09!
