I meant world wildlife fund

URUMQI: An animal researcher said on Tuesday that 2,200 Marco Polo sheep have been spotted in the Pamirs in Northwest China, which indicates that the number of the endangered sub-species of argali sheep is rising.

The discovery showed that the number of Marco Polo sheep, Ovis ammon polii, has increased satisfactorily in China compared with the number in the 1980s, when only about 150 Marco Polo sheep were found in Taxkorgan in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, said George Schaller of the Wildlife Conservation Society.

Schaller praised the effectiveness of the measures China has adopted to protect the endangered species. ..

The Times Of Central Asia reports - Moratorium on Marco Polo sheep hunting ...
Jan 1, 2009 ... A two-year moratorium on hunting Marco Polo sheep .

China seems to be taking steps to protect the sheep.

Obviously way more need be done. Im still looking for groups that  raise funds for conservation and protection of the marco polo sheep.

Chinese government has awarded George Shaller for his achievement  in conservation of endangered species  such as Marco Polo sheep and indeed he did a great research project on the population of the mentioned species for  extensive amount of time so Mr.Shaller deserved it.

That's on chinese side of the border which is outstanding but on the other side places like Kyrgyzstan and Tadjikistan the situation is quite dramatic in fact the Marco Polo sheep hunting trophy is flourishing as it stated in my article.
