The only information you can extract from torture is the information you want to hear.  Like Al Quaeda- Iraq links.

Obviously, the government being able to hold prisoners indefinitely, torture, tap wires without a warrant, and search homes without a warrant keeps us safe!  (He was a wimp on quartering troops)  It worked so well when we were a british colony!
