Excuse me, did you watch that video? He was fired because he is gay...prevented from serving because he is gay.
I don't usually get pissed at ur posts, but in this one you are really being an asshole. Gays sashay like Judy Garland? Should lesbians have to wear heels? Is it ok is they do the same rugged missions as the men? You have to see why your comment is insane. I am going to hope that you just get off on offending people and that you are not as ignorant as your comment makes you sound. Why should they be forced to stay in the closet? If you have a reason, please...I would love to hear it.

I think it's wrong that women can't engage in ground combat. They should have to reach the same physical qualifications as anyone else serving in that arena. If they can, they why should this be prevented. I get that there are physiological differences between the sexes. If women can perform at an acceptable physical level, there should be no reason to keep them from that service.

G.I. Jane?  that's how I feel about women in the military... If you can do it just as good or BETTER, then why not?  women can be just as good if not better than the men.  equal rights... just like if a person can't perform in the military, they won't make it, they won't graduate from basic training...

...that you have some sort of nature vs. nurture argument to be able to justify your position, but could you substitute "black" or "Jew" for "gay" and be happy with your assessment?  "Our military is doing a good job, and they don't want any blacks tap dancing or Jews counting money in the foxholes next to them.  That would be an obvious negative effect on morale (to ignorant people like yourself.)  If blacks want to organize a 20-minute-late military gold tooth pageant or Jews want to organize a briscuit and gelfilte fish dinner, I'm sure they would do a marvelous job, cracker/mensch."

I know--the argument is that sexuality is interior (unlike race) and if no one mentions it, no one will know.  That doesn't cover you from the religious part of my example, but regardless, it is bullsh*t anyway.  I have many friends in the military.  It is largely a bunch of 20-year-old guys killing time for months on end in close quarters.  You don't think (hetero) sex is brought up and discussed 50 times a week?  You don't think the guys talk about female celebrities and girlfriends and fellow female soldiers?  And female CIVILIANS in Iraq?  You don't think that most men can determine who in their unit is almost surely gay within a week without those soliders "putting the make on them in the heat of combat?"

This isn't Will and Grace, Ken.  We need all of the recruits we can get.  Morale drops a lot more from the fatigue of not having enough men than it does from proximity to something slightly out of a few bigots' comfort zones.

The reality is that gays are not comfortable talking openly about "graphic homo sex" in general because our culture (especially males) is grossly homophobic. I think this is wrong. I can't see this as any different from people not being ok with interracial couples walking holding hands. The only way to change this is to let gay culture out of the closet. The stereotype that gay men are constantly hitting on straight males is offensive, in my opinion. It smacks of insecurity and honestly, I find it pathetic. As a female I have learned to accept that men I have no interest in are viewing me as a sex object. Why do men have so much trouble when this is reversed. If you are straight and comfortable with your sexuality, you should have no problem with another man being attracted to you. It could actually be seen as an unwelcome compliment. Females living with catcalls have gotten used to this. Men need to suck it up and face reality and stop being such infants about their sexuality. It should not be threatening.

I assumed that you were fine with women seeing you as a sex object. My question is why it is so threatening for men to see you as a sex object. In my experience, this freaks guys out and I think it's irrational.

I don't have a problem if women want to view me as a sex object.

Even if that "sex object" is a cock ring?

as long as some of them can sing and dance like Judy Garland.  I'm tellin' ya, I saw the greatest show in Atlanta one time.  I laughed all night -- and some gal (I think it was actually a guy) bought me a drink!  How cool is that!

did you just say that???

Most of the participants on this board have 0.0 contact with conservatives. I fill an important role by providing the other side of the story that you would otherwise never hear.

No, most people have contact with conservatives.  Its the conservatives who shut out all other viewpoints, cover their ears, and yell LALALA as loud as they can, just so the liberal demonic antichrist satanist atheist words won't corrupt their perfect little brains.

Nobody wants gays discriminated against, not even conservatives. But we can't have flamboyant gay guys trying to put the make on fellow Marines in the heat of combat. There would be an obvious negative effect on moral.

so if the gay guys screw up, they're dead.  they know that.  They know that if they get distracted by the cute guy sitting next to them in the jeep, they might die.  And you said that nobody wants gays discriminated against, but you just made a vast generalization that all gay guys are like the effeminate ones you see in movies, and by making that generalization, you are discriminating against gays.

arent protecting our freedom?

its about time to stop forcing our soldiers to hide. Let them be free to serve like anyone else.

If you thought it through, dont ask dont tell means there are already gays showering with other marines, army, navy, special forces and have been all along.

You think if don't ask don't tell where repealed tomorrow that the gays in the armed service would  suddenly hold a gay pride parade?

Your homophobia is not a good enough reason. Cite a credible study that shows gays serving openly would be detrimental to unit cohesivenes in the long run.

My cousin was in Iraq, he said when it comes right down to it. No one cares who is gay and who isn't because everyone has to look out for each other to keep them alive.

When did you serve again? You seem to know what an overwhelming majority want.

Just because you feel that you fill a view that really is not often discussed on TYT does not mean you get all knee-jerk reactions. There is not as much name-calling toward you as there are intelligent responses. Most of my family is conservative. I have discussions with them about politics all the time. It is possible to find common ground. Just because we disagree and you are in the minority here does not mean all of are all close-minded.
