It's a bummer, but I've had to do it for a couple of clients whose employees were strangling their connections.
But you have suggested a good idea: having a page on the site with important pictures and other graphics from each show available. But that would be adding that much more work to the crew's already heavy workload.
This might be a problem without an easy solution.
However, you might try changing the proxy settings for your browser to use an offsite proxy that lets you slip stuff through your company's. But if you ever tell anyone that I suggested that, I will find you and fill your apartment with cockroaches.
