You're a smart man.  I think that concept is going to simmer in your mind for a while.

Sometimes we don't see it right away, but the illogic of it and the consequences of doing it are inescapable.  While it's very easy to make that equation, all you have to do is look out the window to see that it doesn't make sense to do.

Rwanda, for instance, was such a case.  The reason that people of opposing sides, neighbors, were able to sleep in each others' homes to save their lives was because they were of the same culture, despite what the instigators of the genocide wanted others to believe -- and believed themselves.

A bit "over dramatic", you say?  How many people have to die from that error in thinking before we can finally abandon it?
