So, a year after an election which mirrored Santos vs. Vinick (the fictional 2006 election in the West Wing) we now look set for a rerun of Bartlet vs. Ritchie.

 For anyone that is not familiar with Bartlet/Ritchie (the 2002 West Wing election), it saw a campaign where Bartlet had to dance around the issue that Ritchie was an idiot. To quote: "Ritchie was known for a folksy, down-to-earth style and a simplistic manner of speaking with which he was able to communicate with people, in contrast to the intellectualism of President Bartlet."
