Let's examine Hugh/Ken's confusion.

Niger is a country, it has two pronunciations: ˈnī-jər, nē-ˈzher, neither of which sound like the racial slur Hugh/Ken is referring to.

It is yet, another sad commentary of the Texas school system that he can't differentiate a word with one g and one with two g's, or understand that the origin of the two g word has nothing to do with the country of Niger.

Bless his heart, he can't help that he was thrown on the short bus of the American education system.
