There is no "former marine" once a marine always a marine. You nothing about the marines to think such a simple thing as core/corps does not go hand in hand, Have you asked a marine drill instructor? no. Therefore you dont really know.  I on the other hand have had first hand experience with drill instructor's, and they've always used the word Marine core when motivating us, and marine corps when speaking of its pride and diligence. You have none.
