As one of the people on the "Boycott Ken" list, I want to clarify MY views.

I am tired of all the posts about the trolls, and boycotting the trolls and ignoring the trolls, etc... I am tired of the "intrigue" around all the various sock-puppets.

I find it irritating that the posts that get the most replies are either:

  1. about this very subject (i.e. "let's boycott KenTX)
  2. posted by one of the regular trolls
  3. start with a normal post but are they hijacked by a big war about trolls.

You know, it's sad that there are a lot of posts by normal people about good solid topics that don't get a lot of replies.

I think the ultimate anti-KenTX movement should involve feeding the posts of regular people versus ignoring the trolls. It's no fun for a newbie to come to TYT and make a post about something important to them and just to be ignored while the regulars simply continue to only be motivated by this incestual infighting.  It gets old and boring after a while.

This "ignoring the trolls" strategy needs to be augmented by making an effort to cull positive dialog.

Just my two cents.

Instead of the negative approach of boycotting the trolls it would be nice to see people supporting thoughtful posts.

I nearly always respond to blogs or posts of members like Landbeyond and Thothlike, because they often bring new issues on the table, and I try to contribute to most posts that bring up something new. That will not keep me from responding to Ken and bobo, because they, at least, post with a little sense of humour, which many liberals here don't.

if Ken or Bobo isn't really Cenk or one of the producers just trying to instigate debate, drive up traffic and make conservatives look stupid? Maybe that's why they never go away?

I have definitely wondered about that....

The idea never crossed my mind until you mentioned it.  I will now discard it.

Thats why we formalized the "ignore" idea with a boycott, to give it more structure and serve as a reminder.

Ken was the obvious first to be ignored because his proclivity to troll, hijack threads and in general be an ass.

We are discussing expanding the boycott to other trolls.

Only the user community can make an effort to encourage positive dialog. It begins with eliminating the negative and with support of the TYT operators, that to date, has not been forthcoming.

The operators need to establish and enforce rules of conduct, providing user tools such as a server based "ignore" function, a rating system, "one man, one blog" and the ability for users to own their blog space.

Ultimately, only the user community can create and respond to positive dialog. Ken and his crew have survived here so long by playing on the desire to take a swing at the "enemy", bluster and bullying. As a result he has hijacked the entire Forum as a platform for his personal ego gratification. He thinks he owns the place. No longer.

and I try to abide... however, sometimes it's extremely tempting... another question - are we boycotting all the conservative idiots who post here from time to time, or just sockpuppets of Ken? What about Bobo or Bobo1?

It's just hard to keep track.

Plus, even if we got rid of Ken, probably another douchebag will stumble upon the site and replace him, no?

More and more, I think the administrators of the site should just implement controls to limit him to just one user id.

conservatives, idiots or otherwise, are in endless supply on political forums. Ken, if that's his real name, is the only "conservative" at TYT that has this problem. He's is simply a foul mouthed, mean spirited jerk.

It is very unbecoming of someone with your intelligence and experience.

I would think that an old salty like you would need Ken, Twba and me to liven this otherwise droll and dismal spirited place up.

Have you noticed how many more non-sockpuppet conservatives are showing up here on the forum? The tides are turning against your failed ideology once again - the nation has had its taste of Obama style Liberalism and they have soundly rejected it...

;)

Pot calling kettle black alert!!!

As a self admitted recovering alcoholic and former patient of various mental institutions, you have no room to talk...

...I am a recovered alcoholic.  And who knows?  One day you might be able to say that you've recovered from your crippling mental disorders -- but only if you start getting help for them soon.

Bobo's go to play seems to be the "drugs" pitch low and inside?

As someone recently pointed out "The lady doth protest too much, methinks".

His hero Mr. Limprod is a drug addict. The President he spent 8 years defending was a admitted drunk. Yet he loves to throw out druggie at the drop of a hat.

Could it be the recurring case of Kettle meets Pot?

He's also big on mental illness.  He likes to accuse people of being off their medications.  He may be one of those who thinks that he doesn't need his, even though everyone around him wishes that he would take them.

Now everytime someone post a Glenn Beck or a Rush Limbaugh quote or reference we can refer back to this little jewel  from you and post the warning that you have supplied.

As we all know little Glenny is a self admitted recovering alcoholic and drug addict, former patient at a mental institute, so he really has no room to talk. Not to mention Rush who is a recovering drug addict who was a patient in rehab.

I feel better knowing we never again have to read their lunatic rantings again, and I'd like to thank you for supporting this policy.

I dont know how many conservatives are showing up on this site..

enlighten me

is it less than 3?

since your brand of extremism makes up a small percentage of the population. Im not to worried about tides turning.

The more the regressives pander to the birthers  and the climate change deniers  the worse it is for them.

Obama is not a liberal  and if you think he is you are totally ignorant.

Ken has often sucked newcomers who are unaware of his psychopathy into a conversation which ends with him spewing vile insults and driving them away.  I would rather that those newcomers stay and meet others in our community, but Ken posts deliberately inflammatory articles in order to snare the unwary.

I sometimes post requests in his articles for people to join the boycott.  I give reasons why it's a good idea and I post a link to more information.  I would like newcomers to know what they're in store for if they engage with Ken.

If you don't like it, I don't care.  I'm not twisting your arm to read my comments, and someone else might consider those warnings to be a service.
