In this day and age the term "boycott" has a negative connotation. We attribute this to the attacks by the right wing on unions, NAACP, student groups and other groups of protesters that have successfully used boycotts in the past. This is supremely ironic because the Christian right and other conservative groups employ the same tactics, interspersed with a shooting or two, sanitized by the flag and blessed by the Bible.

The difference is that we are not looking for a divine blessing or claiming the patriotic high ground in this effort.

When we began the boycott, we did not do so out of malice.

As a group we have routinely defended KenTX \ Hugh Everett's right to blog on TYT. We did so because it was the right thing to do and with a hope that KenTX \ Hugh Everett would reciprocate by finally living up to his oft repeated  credo of "open and free debate".

Sadly, after several years, that has never happened in a meaningful way. Finally, after a series of insulting and demeaning political and personal attacks it has become readily apparent to all that his sole purpose for participating in the TYT Forum is to ridicule and demean TYT members for the principles they believe in.

<  For example, the latest "blog", http://www.theyoungturks.co m/story/2009/12/16/42035/16 9 is an prime example of why we boycott KenTX\Hugh Everett. The photo of Joe Lieberman in black face is only meant to do one thing: incite comments for a flame war and a new trolling opportunity.

KenTX / Hugh Everett's favorite straw men for situations like this are freedom of speech, censorship and the fairness doctrine.

When a blog complains about Limbaugh, Hannity or Beck, with a certainty of the sunrise there will be a post about "liberals" desire to  limit freedom of speech, impose censorship and reinstate the fairness doctrine. More often than not, the solution proposed is to simply not read the offensive material, turn the channel or close your ears.

When we announced the boycott the first response was how we were restricting the freedom of speech, we were censoring  KenTX / Hugh Everett or attempting to establish a web based version of the fairness doctrine.


Freedom of speech does not guarantee an audience nor, as our conservative friends often point out, a platform. We are graciously provided a platform by TYT, they can also take it away if they choose. After that, its up to the TYT member.

More often than not, the solution proposed by KenTX / Hugh Everett to complaints about Fox and "conservative" pundits is to simply not read the offensive material, turn the channel or close your ears. Very true, we agree. The lack of comments on KenTX / Hugh Everett blogs proves our point.

Other things you should know are:

    * If you choose to engage KenTX \ Huge Everett in" debate" that is, of course, your privilege.

    * We have no ability to delete or change posts or otherwise shun those who do choose to post and play with KenTX \ Huge Everett. Enjoy, God bless and go forward.

   * We are making no attempt ban "conservatives", KenTX \ Huge Everett from TYT. First KenTX \ Huge Everett is  not a real conservatives on. Second people are banned from TYT for poor behavior, not politics.

   *We engage users who honestly represent their views and are truly representative of the conservative point of view, unsavory or otherwise..honestly.

   *KenTX / Hugh Everett now demands an audience and threatens to disrupt any attempt to provide tools and choices to users to tailor their TYT experience to meet their needs. This will be done through the use of sock puppets and surrogates. He has already switched back to his alias of KenTX. Don't be fooled.

Freedom of choice is a simple concept. One that cuts both ways with impunity. That fact infuriates so called "conservatives":

    * We choose not to play the game any longer.

    * We choose not to dignify the bait and switch tactics, personal attacks and insults employed by KenTX / Hugh Everett in his blogs.

    * We choose not to participate in enabling KenTX / Hugh Everett personality issues , "personal information" red herrings and attempts to influence the debate with superfluous personal information.

    *  We choose not to listen to claim of  bribes through (fictitious) "donations" to TYT , exaggerated claims of "insider" influence over the TYT programing staff and duplicitous offers of personal favors and friendship.

In short, we choose to boycott, (ignore) KenTX / Hugh Everett.
