As a Black man, I have no problem with this.  Soul food IS a traditional part of Black American culture, and that includes fried chicken, greens, black eyed peas and a whole host of other items.  The fact that certain food items are a part of Black culture is not by itself racist.  It becomes racist when Black people are depicted as having a single-minded obsession with those foods, or when it is assumed that EVERY Black person shares a taste for those foods, or a history of having eaten them.

But there is nothing wrong with doing a soul food menu to commemorate Black History Month (Black History Month is dumb for a lot of reasons, but that's another issue altogether).  This is a COMPLETELY different issue from the Australian commercial where food is being used to soothe the savage Black beasts, and the fact that the food is fried chicken is less relevant.

I mean, would we consider it racist if it was German-American history month and there was a menu with sauerbraten and pretzels? Of if it was a British-American history month and there was a menu with bangers and mash?  I just don't see this as a problem at all, and I don't think any sinister or racist motives are afoot.
