My Views on the film Green Zone

I'd give it high marks

I generally liked "Green Zone" especially the first half. It was full of twists and unpredictability and was visually a lot of fun to watch. Chief Miller was fairly believable if idealistic but there were Americans that signed up after 9-11 to do the honorable thing just as Miller did. The Iraqi conditions around him and his troops seemed more or less realistic for March-September 2003. Later it devolved into a action flick but the director salvaged it with Freddie the interpreter's statement to Miller near the end: "You will not decide what happens here."
There have been a lot of con comments condemning the film as preachy, biased, lefty inspired, etc. But I don't see how the film deviated that far from events as they were reported at that time. Obviously cons want to forget how badly things were bungled and rally behind the shiny new Rove/Cheney version of history. Films like Green Zone will help keep the record straight.
