Video Viewing Tips
The Young Turks video is in Windows Media Player. To view it, you must have Windows Media Player version 9.0 or 10.0 or higher.
If you are having trouble, please try the link to 24 Community on the website (in the menu Control Room). You can also try the direct link to the feed: http://winmedia.voxcdn.net/3137-live1-wmv
Mac users may have to take other measures. First, Mac users should make sure they have Windows Media Player installed.
Microsoft has a download that may help Mac users. Go to www.microsoft.com/downloads and find the download for Windows Media Components for Quick Time. But this may be outdated, so another option is to go to the website www.flip4mac.com and attempt to download the proper application for Macs. Also, this page. might help.
The MAC version of Windows Media Player, which may no longer be supported, can be downloaded here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/mac/mp9/default.aspx ___________________________________________
Snow Leopard Upgrade: If you're thinking of installing Snow Leopard, and want to continue to use Quicktime to view the show, you should select "customize" during the installation process and check Quicktime 7. (I'd also recommend checking Rosetta in this menu.)

Since this is what I did, I just looked up Quicktime 7 in the Finder and open the TYT stream at http://winmedia.voxcdn.net/3137-live1-wmv (it has the old familiar Q icon, instead of the new metallic one for QT-X) Of course you must also have Flip4Mac installed, but anyone doing an OS upgrade will have this already, otherwise download it again.
You should still be able to download Quicktime 7 from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ if you didn't originally install it during your Snow Leopard upgrade.
Or you can use VLC: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ Which should play the stream with no problems.

More Mac Viewing Tips
Tip #1: Thought I'd follow up and share a "solution" I accidentally discovered. First I download the .wmv file and save it to my desktop. Next I click to open the file, and it automatically imports via "Flip 4 Mac". Once it's done importing, the Quicktime Player opens up automatically and voila! TYT! When I watch it this way (rather than streaming), there's no mysterious stopping and popping back to the beginning. Start to finish - no problems.
Tip #2: I downloaded this little utility caller iSquint for free. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/19769
I download any Turks episode I want, drag it over the little iSquint app and it converts it to an MP4. It'll even put it into your iTunes library for you if you like and then you have the Turks video on an iPod wherever you go. Awwwwwww:)

Tip from Scott: If you are trying to watch the video on the web page, there is an easy fix and a hard fix (at least for the problems I've had).
The hard fix: make sure the windows media player plugin is correctly installed. Sometimes the player will successfully download to the plugin folder, but will have the wrong file extension. If this is the case, they need to change the name of the file so it ends in the same extension as the rest of the plugins. My windows media player wouldn't work inside a web page until I did this.
The easy fix: open windows media player by itself and go to file=>open location and type this in and hit return: http://winmedia.voxcdn.net/3137-live1-wmv

Tips for dial up users: I've been having problems getting the connection to stay up, so I came up with the following solution that will work for your millions and millions of fans who have dial-up or otherwise crappy connections....
1) Open Windows Media Player
2) Click Tools, and then options
3) Click the performance tab
4) Under choose connection speed, switch it to 28.8 kbps
5) Move the video acceleration slider to "None"
6) Connect to the stream and listen to audio only at 32kbps, instead of audio and video at 118kbps!

Problems with Windows Media Player For errors related to proxy servers, in Media Player, go to Tools>Options>Network>Configure, then chose "Do not use a proxy server."
For one viewer on a Windows machine, the stream just stopped working. This viewer fixed the problem: "I just had to uninstall the vlc plugin because it was preventing the windows media player plugin from working and your site uses the winmedia player."

Another random user tip. If you're having troubles, you might need to tell your computer to add theyoungturks.com as a "trusted site", through the Options menu on your internet browser.

Hey guys, just had a look at the viewing tips and noticed a lack of a linux option. A lot of linux users are tech savvy and will have the stream working direct on the website, however 1, it doesnt look great especially compared to the .wmv stream when viewed in windows and 2, it jutters sometimes. Anyways a way round this is to download the ubiquitous VLC player (available on all platforms i think...) certainly linux and windows! When VLC is open hit 'ctrl + n' to open a network stream and paste the URL ' http://winmedia.voxcdn.net/3137-live1-wmv' . The quality is as good as wmp and all is good.

Here's a viewing tip you could consider for members: I have a Smartphone that uses the Windows Mobile (version 6.1) operating system. I can view the live show on this phone by opening Windows Media Player on the smartphone, and then select "Menu" then "Open URL." Then enter the following: http://winmedia.voxcdn.net/3137-live1-wmv as the URL and select "OK." This works great, and I can watch anywhere I have cell phone service. (Of course, users should be sure they have an unlimited web access plan for their smartphones!) I don't know if that link will work long-term, but it wasn't too hard for me to find that URL, so I'll just get a new one if it changes.
