Bankers, Democrats, and the 21st Century

I think the health care fight will fade into history quickly, but the Democratic capitulation on the banking crisis will become an epochal reference point for an entire generation.

A Question

I have an idea that's probably been discussed before but I just don't see it discussed much. I wonder why that is or if I'm just misunderstanding.

Not a joke: A corporation is running for Congress

When the Supreme Court ruled in Citizens United v. Federal Elections Commission that corporations have a right to participate in elections and to spend as much as they want to influence them, it extended the rights that corporations are allowed to exercise even farther into the domain of human beings than before.

Now, corporations in Maryland and Virginia are running for Congress in order to find out if the members of the Supreme Court who decided that case in the affirmative are really as stupid as they seem.

Breaking: Kucinich To Vote Yes On HCR

I mentioned yesterday this may happen, and now it appears it has.

Howard Fineman on Countdown said Kucinich will announce tomorrow he is voting Yes for the House's Health Care Reform bill.

I believe it is scheduled for 10:00 am Eastern.

If the report is accurate, Luis Guiterrez is now the lone progressive holdout (on immigration reasons), although most believe he will vote Yes come vote time.

May everyone's head not explode!

You're Not A Progressive If You're Not Pro-Union

I don't believe in lengthy litmus tests.  The one that the conservatives based on Reagan is utterly hilarious as he would've axed from their group.  There are a lot of issues progressives believe in - from emotion issues such as being pro-choice to things ranging from education reform to the environment.  To be a progressive, one does not have to believe in everything top to bottom that would be on that lengthy list.

But not being pro-union, that's another story of which I'll cede no ground.

Terrorist and Traitor Steve King calls for "Velvet Revolution"

What happened? Learned that you cant win by flying planes into buildings and killing innocent Americans?

Republican Steve King should have been tried for treason and dealt with weeks ago but instead this weakling government allows him to continue to subvert the United States. Sometimes I wish this government was 1/1000th of what these right wing fuckers say it is...

To protest or not to protest...

So my employer is at it again. They invited another Neo Conservative to come speak to employees while acting as if they are neutral politically. First John McCain then Newt Gingrich and now Karl Rove! I am not prone to letting my political views be heard at work but my employer has not only invited Karl Rove to speak but they are endorsing the man as some kind of war hero while plugging his book about his "life as a Conservative in the fight". I have a strong urge to protest but he is being brought to speak by my employer none the less.

Where the hell is Cenk?

The most important week in the healthcare legislation, and Cenk is off on a junket to London pubs to get stinking drunk?
