A liberal and a conservative started talking imigration...

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
Sitting around enoying life a liberal and a conservative friend came up with yet another plan to fix imigartion.

It looks like it just might be a viable three part plan - enjoy!

Please find the flaws - afterall the real goal is improving america, not improving the strength of the Liberal or Conservative movements.

How about instead of a wall - we open the borders to anyone who wishes to work here.  However, they must have a biometric id (using retinal scanning - perhaps in the future DNA), so that we can document all of the illeagals.  Additionally, illeagals must make minimum wage, and recieve any benefits offered to an american worker.  This would allow us to have a true database, so that we could actually monitor the guest worker population.

Furthermore, we would impliment a mandatory 10 year sentence for the first violation and one for each subsequent violation for Owners/CEOs down to the head of human resources if applicable.  Addi tionally, a 20% fine of final net profits per violation (so the company would not be closed by fines - at the worst they would be forced to operate non-profit).

As for the border, we would use video recognition technology, a few drones, pressure sensors, laser trip wires, and regular old border patrol agents.  Lock down the chances of criminals a/o evil doers from entering the country.

That is what a conservative and a liberal came up with together.

Now what do you think?

Ultimately, I think we will be forced to make Mexico the 51st state.

What now you do not want the USA in charge of a "New World Order?"

Did the conservative or liberal come up with the fascistic idea of ten years of incarceration for a victimless crime?

I would love to meet his idea of a "conservative".

KenTX,

My conservative friends agree with your line of reasoning.  At least, the line of reasoning that you have displayed to this point.

Perhaps, you could enlighten us on what makes a good conserative.

Looking forward to the lesson!

"Perhaps, you could enlighten us on what makes a good conserative."

Here is a recent post from an American who sounds like a good conservative:

"Wages driven down

Cost of border surveillance way up

Health care system plunged into debt

That is just three minor problems caused by our current system."

I agree with this guy.

Twba:

You are kidding right?

Let us see:

Wages driven down

Cost of border survaillance way up

Health cae system plunged into debt

That is just three minor problems caused by our current system.

Additionally, the proposal to make illegal immigration a felony would prevent the 11+ million here (wether for good or bad) the opportunity to become citizens of our great nation.

As for the jail time - it is only for the guilty.  Do you really think an itellegent buisinessman would put his family in that situation?

Stop the people who supportthe problem, and the problem will be no more!

Twba: You are kidding right?

No, I'm not kidding.

Let us see: Wages driven down

Chinese workers are putting far more downward pressure on wages. Illegal immigrants, especially Mexicans, only drive down the wages of high school drop-outs. Stay in school, kids.

Cost of border survaillance way up

If we let Mexicans walk through secure ports of entry on their way to look for jobs, border security would be much cheaper and we could concentrate on catching guys who want to do us harm.

Health cae system plunged into debt

Most illegals pay taxes. The system has much more wrong with it than illegals getting subsidized medical care. Sending a few million people into exile will not cure what ails the medical industry.

Additionally, the proposal to make illegal immigration a felony would prevent the 11+ million here (wether for good or bad) the opportunity to become citizens of our great nation.

A great nation doesn't imprison impoverished job seekers looking for a taste of freedom.

As for the jail time - it is only for the guilty.  Do you really think an itellegent buisinessman would put his family in that situation?

Yes, I think many would be caught up in an out of control situation. You would see many honest people getting screwed when they hire people with forged documents. Can you imagine the ease with which you could ruin a man's life by using well crafted documents to get a job and then turn around and tell on yourself, so the CEO would go to jail? A private contract for labor is not a crime, regardless of government paperwork or lack thereof. My labor belongs to me and I can sell it to anyone.

Stop the people who supportthe problem, and the problem will be no more!

Your enthusiasm for fascism is impressive. I prefer to not live in a police state. And make no mistake, it is a police state that you are proposing be created.

Be sure to raise the minimum wage to about $10/hr before starting this plan.

Why?

Otherwise there becomes a race to the bottom on wages as we instantly add several million new workers at $5.15/hr.

Even so, assuming there are 50 working weeks in a year, with 2 unpaid weeks off for sickness/vacation, that equals 2,000 working hours per year, right? At $10/hr minimum wage that'sm only $20,000 a year to live on. I point this out to discourage the critics of a hike in the minimum wage.

I did suggest an increase in the minimum wage.  Unfortunately, we wound up debate the existence of a minimum wage.

I am sure that KenTX would approve of the fact that my conservative (always votes republican - hunts - fishes - works for a family buisiness that generates good moey for the american economy - do I have to keep going) friend oppossed an increase to minimum wage.  As such, we left that for another day.

I do agree that is a major component to solving the total problem.

How about we suspend the USA VISA program until we've deported all overstayers.

We then build a wall, which has proven to be well over 90% effective. A three part wall is even more effective!

I say first LOCK the border down by any means necessary.  Walls, digital surveillance, whatever.  Whatever is necessary, do it.

Then what?  Amnesty for everyone who is *already here*.  Because at this point they are a part of the economy and might as well be made citizens.  But to paraphrase someone or other, "this far, and no further."

Jarrett.

That plan sounds like a reasonable compromise. Liberals begrudgingly agree to lock down the border. Conservatives agree to amnesty for 20 million new guest dem voters.

It would be a fine deal if we could solve the problem of guest worker VISA overstayers. We take in roughly 1 million new guest workers every year. When their time expires, none of them go home because libs refuse to enforce it. This is where most of our current problems are coming from.

Without solving that problem we’ll be back in this debate in 10 years.

Personally I think we should suspend all VISAS until we find a way to enforce overstayers, and deport the ones here overstaying.

Any solutions for that one?

There are two major problems this summer.

1. Alligators are eating people in Florida.

2. Illegal aliens are crossing the southern border in droves.

We can solve both problems if we simply deport the alligators from Florida to the Rio Grande.
