Imus and cowboy hats

Imus is entertainment first.

Looks like Ben's the only guy on the Young Turks who gets Imus.  In the old days, Imus was one of the early shock jocks.  The show is a weird mixture of of off-beat political debate, Imus raving about whoever has offended him today and whatever issue Imus is currently obsessed with.  He's very committed to helping children with cancer and spends a lot of time and money to help them.

No use trying to figure out his politics--it's all over the place.  He's been slamming Bush for years, hated Clinton, and may or may not be a Republican.  If he is a Republican, he's supported a hell of bunch of Dems over the years, including Kerry, Ford and others.  Unlike Bernard and Charles, Imus has not drank the right wing Kool-Aid--he's had a taste or two, but it didn't take.

All in all--I think of Imus as an irritable old fart who can be very entertaining.  He has the ability to cut though the BS in an interview and make people say thing they wish they could take back.  It's quite a talent.  Young turks who might want to someday get off the internet and have a more visible forum can still learn a lot from that old man in the cowboy hat.

As for the cowboy hat.  I'm a lifelong Democrat and I look damned good in one.  It's too damned bad George Bush has turned a good-looking hat into a symbol now associated with right wing assholes.

You guys are doing a good job.  Hope to see you spread out a bit more.

It's hard to appreciate something if ya haven't tried it, eh?

Cenk and Jill should be giving a tip of their hats to the I-Man. He's the one who got the "Talk" ball rolling. He was, if I may, the original Young Turk. He was bitching about politicians and policies while they were still playing with Barbie and G.I. Joe.

"Imus (is) an irritable old fart who can be very entertaining" not only sums him up, but I like to think that coat fits me pretty well, too.

Thanks for writing what I was thinking.

As conservative as Imus may seem--he's ridiculed George Allen and has Harold Ford on his show about every three days.  If folks have noticed, Ford is up two points in TN, and Jim Webb has closed on Allen to within three points.  These two guys aren't your checklist kind of Dems, but they bust any tie in the Senate.  If we control the Senate--oh boy.  If Ford and Webb both win, Cenk and Jill both have to wear a cowboy hat on the November 8th show.  Probably help Cenk with the dating problem he was talking about.  A good looking man his size could wear a big cowboy hat.  It would look good.

"Well uh, Well uh, Diedre and Wyatt think my hats look perty darned good on me."
Imus is a nitwit. Besides, Howard Stern started talk/shock radio!
True, who he likes and why (politically) is hard to figure.
Maybe after 11 years of sobriety he really needs a drink!

"Howard Stern started talk/shock radio!"

Yeeeeaaaahhhh........
No. Rewatch Private Parts. Who was that working in New York when Howard makes it there? Imus has never been as overtly sexual, but he has always been a (charming) antagonistic butthead.
