Islamic Extremism Spreading Because of the Iraq War

If you like this story, digg it!
There are two reasons to read this excellent AP story out today. First, it tells you about how all of our intelligence agencies have concluded that the Iraq War has helped spread Islamic extremism and made us far less safe.
Second -- and this might be even more important -- it is written fairly. The Bush administration declassified much of the rest of the National Intelligence Estimate so that they can say that the rest of the report supports their argument. It doesn't. But they were counting on the press to say that it did simply because the White House said that. But for a change, the press did not play along. As you can see in this article, they explain that the rest of the NIE makes the Bush claims about Iraq seem even more wrong.
If the press reported accurately like this more often, instead of serving as the White House's stenographer the country would be much better off and much better informed.
