Ken didn't even allege that nothing happened to Frank, just Studds:

Gerry E. Studds (Forgive poor Ken's misspelling - he cut and pasted from a Conservative site, and they rarely get ANYTHING right) was Censured on 7/20/1983. He was reelected many more times, serving from 1973 until 1997. He was America's FIRST Openly Gay Congressman.

I can't imagine why he got such a light sentence for the incident with the 13 year old, but to charge him with "attempted sexual assault on a child" when the "child" is 17 is a prime example of the confusion surrounding sex laws. At 17 you can join the military and go kill people for a living, but you're still considered a "child?" You're old enough to drive, but not get hit on? Doesn't make sense to me.

What I got most steamed about in that report was:

"The details of the most recent allegations against Ankeney, who has been living in Highlands Ranch with a girlfriend, have not been released. In an interview, Douglas County Sheriff spokeswoman Kim Castellano said the search warrant, arrest warrant and booking records have been sealed at the request of the investigator because the investigation is ongoing."

What a load of crap! If there's enough evidence to get search and arrest warrants and you announce the arrest to the media, there's enough to let the public in on the details.

This "we refuse to talk about an ongoing investigation" stuff has GOT to STOP. I can understand withholding details that only a "perp" would know, but beyond that either put up or shut up. It is now being used as a political shotgun AND shield, and it ain't right. Makes it awfully convenient for "those in power" to broadly smear someone with no protection for the smeared, yet we have seen examples of others using it as an excuse to not come clean when a question is asked.

Too much secrecy in the Land of the Free....
