Katherine Harris for the win!

TAMPA - Katherine Harris appeared to be coasting to an easy victory Tuesday night in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate. With 38 percent of the precincts reporting at 9:15 p.m., Harris was leading with 49.85 percent of the vote. Her closest competitor, Windermere attorney Will McBride, had 30.05 percent. Retired Admiral Leroy Collins, Jr. of Tampa had 14.65 percent and Safety Harbor developer Peter Monroe trailed with 5.36 percent.
The Republican primary sets the stage for a general election race against incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson.
About 80 Harris supporters waited eagerly for the candidate to arrive at the Tampa hotel where her campaign was holding an "election watch" party. Most circled a buffet table loaded with pizza and salad. Others took photos of a giant white layer cake featuring a photo likeness of a smiling Harris framed with red, white and blue icing or watched returns on a plasma television.
The 49-year-old millionaire congresswoman was on the verge of overcoming more than three relatively unknown opponents. State and national party leaders asked her to bow out of the race in the face of a Washington lobbying scandal that has federal investigators combing through her congressional and campaign records.
I'm calling it, Harris has been holding about 50% for the last hour.
