On January 4, 2007 Cenk Uygur appeared on a discussion panel on the Paula Zahn show on CNN.  The panel consisted of: (1) Cenk; (2) a self-hating Muslim guy; and (3) a cool black guy. They appeared three times during the hour-long show.

I only watched the first clip, and i had to comment.

Cenk, I am so happy to see you on the network, its so amazingly refreshing to see someone speak on cable news without a drop of fear.

Listen to any conservative talk show host on the radio (Gibson etc) and their venom and racism is ten fold, on tv they always tone it down.

I must also comment, its funny how paula zahn is trying to play devils advocate for a bigot racist when she just did a whole 1-2 hour special on racism in america.

I saw no use for Paula Zahn's role in this video. She did nothing to promote a solution to this issue.  Instead, she fueled the trickery involved in cloaking a divisive issue into  a silent nothingness.

Time after time, in this video, Zahn generated stupid questions relating to what people think. She fell short of saying she was one of those racist thinkers.  They call her actions a form of projection. That is when you give others your feelings.

Some of this video was cut. I viewed the same video on Crooks and Liars and Cenk let his feelings out about how connected Bush is to the same kind of bigotry. My comments for that video was as followed:

When Cenk called Dennis Prager's and Virgil Goode' actions what it is and spoke about how close our president is connected to the same kind of bigotry, the host became silent. It was the eerie kind of silence that has gone with being apathetic to what we have done in Iraq and continues to do as I note.

It was truly nice to ear and see it being said. Maybe, with some hope, it will be stated as a common fact we went to Iraq and killed many people for the wrong reasons. While we are in that true stage, maybe we can talk about the false sense of patriotism the hateful Republicans used as a tool to gather support from our citizens, and allies.

Oh yes. This was a bad call, and we have lots of blood on our hands. Our troop losses make up about 1 percent of the total loss of life in Iraq. Can we face the facts as they are?

Excellent opening - calling Prager a bigot, a clown and un-American.  Then saying he doesn't understand the idea of America.  Brilliant!  I'm glad you explained that no one swears on anything when sworn into congress, that the only time something like a bible is used is during the photo-op.  I loved seeing Paula fall all over herself saying "I mean in the photo-op" whenever she mentioned swearing in on the bible.  Of course, I am of the opinion that they should swear in on the constitution, that's another subject.

Your taking immediate control of the conversation enabled the three of you to go beyond the boundaries for discussion that Paula had apparently set up.  And you did it without going all extreme Cenk on them.  I'm impressed.

While all your points were good, I especially liked it when you talked about the enemy being the fundamentalists and extremists, and then, right there on CNN, on TEEVEE, you said that "this administration is the enemy because they're fundamentalists, they're extremists," well! what can I say except BRAVO!  Thank you.

I thought the other two made good points as well.  And, the whole thing did not degenerate into complete chaos and loud unintelligibility.  All in all it was worth watching.

Well done Cenk. I agree with the comment above what was she doing consistently pounding the unamerican clown's points as if they have value?

I don't get it. (I do get it... but i don't GET it.) What does CNN gain from a clearly intentional choice to be biased? Especially given the results of the last election.

That was refreshing.

(And happy new year.)

First off, great to see you on Paula Zahn!  You get an A+ from me for the way you handled yourself and the message you communicated, especially under the circumstances.

Let me say I was a little pissed at Zahn after listening her host a town hall meeting in Texas about racism in America during the holiday break.  What a joke (Zahn)!  I don't know how ignorant she thinks her listeners are, but for the first 45 minutes she failed to mention racism experienced by other non-African-American groups.  I was so annoyed I had to finally turn off the car radio for my girlfriend's sake.

Maybe Zahn's a sweat pea in person, but along with Dobbs's anti-mexican crusade, CNN's starting to more resemble Fox than a news network.   Maybe some more appearances by you will bring some sanity to that show....

oh yeah you looked good a spoke well too Cenk, blah blah blah....

why would you pawn your honor to the cable news networks or fox at all ?

for the money?

for tyt?

they want you there for one reason only, to make a fool of you on national tv.

why even recognize them as a credible news service by going on the show?

if you boycott them by refusing to go on the show it would further discredit them as a credible news service,
and paula zahn can do that on her own, she doesnt need any help.
