It CNN International they have interrupted their programming to discuss this news. On FNC International I can only see a small chevron announcement and a sleepy faced anchor announcing the news for about......10 seconds. Cavuto replay still on discussing WHY GORE shouldn't win the Nobel Peace Prize....incredible!!

GORE 2008... The world needs you!!

Time to prepare for the onslaught of attacks and accusations of political bias from the right-wing that is sure to follow.

CNN already started.

The Nobel people did their part, now it's your turn Al. Come on man, step up. We need you.

The ugliest smear against him is the one always used against smart people, that he's boring.  He's a techie, smart and articulate.  I doubt we'd be the international pariah we are now if he were in the White House.

by TurksTom on 10/12/2007 06:52:23 AM EST

Boring?  If that's the best they can come up with, there is no reason for Gore not to become president.  Bush became president, and he ain't exactly "doing the Dew."  Neither was his dada.

"The ugliest smear against him is the one always used against smart people, that he's boring."

The ugliest smear against Al Gore is that he is nothing but a phony hypocrite. Actually, this assertion is well grounded in fact.

Conservation is for the little people, like you and me.

It could be worse.  He could be a sub-literate, equinophobic, C-student cowboy-wannabe oil business failure with a broken piece of soggy macaroni for a penis.  Actually, this assertion is also grounded in fact.

I can say what ever I want and claim that the assertion is "grounded in fact"...and never technically be lying.

Al buys almost all of his power from renewable sources (which costs him more money).  As for the jet, well, the man's gotta get around.  Besides, jets are not anywhere NEAR the largest contributor to global warming.

You know this of course.  You're just upset you were right about Al winning the Nobel and are afraid this means he's gonna jump into the race.  It's okay.  We understand.

"Besides, jets are not anywhere NEAR the largest contributor to global warming."

This is true. Burning fossil fuels to generate electricity is by far the largest manmade contributor to greenhouse gas production. This can be solved by converting the electrical grid to nuclear like Japan and France have already done.

Is Al Gore advocating wide spread conversion to nuclear? Hell no! He doesn't say a word about nuclear. He just wants all little people driving a Prius while he flies around in a G4, and rolls to his public appearances in SUVs.

The GOP attacked John Kerry on Swiftboats, because that was his perceived strength. You know we're going after Al Gore on environmental issues.

When you done with creating toxins for the petro-chemical industry you should look into stand up.

You know we're going after Al Gore on environmental issues.

Yuk yuk yuk.......my side are hurting!

Yeah...rolling back endangered species classifications so the Bush  EPA directors property in CA wouldn't be impacted is a prime example of proactive Republican Conservative  policies on the Environment

Thats just the tip of the iceberg...ooops, sorry no more icebergs. Humm...I am sure theres a memo somewhere prohibiting Bushies from saying "iceberg".

Knowing what you know about the wingnut pundits, and the corporate media, how can you not say that Friday begins the takedown of Al Gore as a viable candidate for the rest of his life?

Al Gore wants to sign up for two solid years of questioning how he can protect us from terrorists when he accepts the "Peace" prize?

Tell me the truth. How many dimes would I have if I had a dime for every interview where he will have to answer that question from square one? And Schwarzenegger and Giuliani laughing from the RNC convention at him? And Chris Matthews saying the Democrats managed to find the one gayer candidate in all the world than Larry Craig?

Al Gore today says he will never run for elective office again. Bet me 10K? I will funnel it back to you under the table.

by bambambam on 10/12/2007 08:39:46 AM EST

I volunteer to protect myself from terrorists.  I have a perfect record in this department so far.  The more people do the same as I, the less of a homeland security workload Gore will have, and the more time he'll have to do stuff that actually needs to be done.

The Nobel Peace Prize shall be awarded "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."

Why does Al Gore merit this prize?

by Twba on 10/12/2007 12:48:19 PM EST

Aren't there categories and such?

I feel like we may be conflating one kind of Nobel with another.

Because those are more like...guidelines?

Actually I heard on a news show,Bloomberg I think,it was due to the impact of Gores work in regard to the stability of countries negatively effected by climate change and environmental refugees...that sort of thing.

The Beast would beat Gore like a rented mule...err Bill Clinton's rented mule to fill the VP that is.

No chance for the goracle.

by acroso on 10/12/2007 06:41:42 PM EST

Maybe Gore deserves it. If terrormaster Arafat and Carter won it why not Gore.

Besides we are past recognizing the inventor of the internet. If liberals could give him a nobel for that though they would no doubt, but they probably don't control that committee. The nobel peace prize is beyond a joke at this point.

acroso is the "Rain Pundit."

When he posts all you need to do is think of Dustin Hoffman  invoking Judge Woppner. You will note that acroso is incapable of posting his own comments just regurgitating what he  reads(?) on Limbaugh and WingNut Net Daily.

He drug up the old Limbaugh attack line "inventor of the internet" which Gore never said

"During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative"—poli tico-speak for leadership—"in creating the Internet," he said, before going on to describe other accomplishments. It was true. In the 1970s, the Internet was a limited tool used by the Pentagon and universities for research. As a senator in the 80s, Gore sponsored two bills that turned this government program into an "information superhighway," a term Gore popularized, and made it accessible to all. Vinton Cerf, often called the father of the Internet, has claimed that the Internet would not be where it was without Gore's leadership on the issue."(1)

Acroso will not read this, he'll simply respond with another Gore fabrication or a "fat " joke, or some half-brained muttering about al Queda.

Well acroso, what's it going to be this time? The "Love Story' fabrication or the electric bill exageration attack?
