This place was completely filled.

Im a government contractor and do marketing for certain geovernment agencies.

Last week I went to the AUSA Conference is Washington DC. The Convention Center is the size of a city block--and it was full of the latest and greatest in military related gear, guns, and vehicles...

Dude, seriously. Eisenhower was totally right. Theres waaaayyyyy toooooo much money on the civilian side in conflict and war to be stopped by a little common sense.

R. Lee Ermey http://www.imdb.com/name/nm 0000388/ was at the  Glock booth signing autographs and taking pics. There were hot chicks pushing assault rifles and nice suits and business cards as far as the eye could see. The Military Industrial Complex has never looked better. I even interviewed a guy who mentioned "that nutjob from Iran" in our conversation (I replied that the dude in question was a nut with no real power in Iran to do anything to which he changed it to 'the next crazy dictator').

Oh yeah and I saw Robert Gates walking around. He looked fabulous.

My personal favorite highlight was hearing about 20 seconds of a protestor chanting "Dont Bomb Iran!" before being snuffed out. Most people made faces like they smelled a fart and tried to ignore it. I was giggling the whole time.

But my point is--that these wars will not stop because like every other war we've fought (tin foil hat time alert)--CASH IS KING. Theres too much money to be made in the next war and supporting that conflict. This industry is much too immense to be stopped by the truth.

Dead Soldiers arent enough, dead civilians will never be enough, the facts will never be believed, and it will keep on going and getting worse. The money is too good.

And "Nothing Stops the Money Train" (Im trying to start this gimmick on the internet--so I can claim it and sue someone)

Thanks for the grim thought.  Seriously though, these are interesting observations.

It reminds me a little of the "military porn" on the military channel.  Man, I used to love that shit.  I must have watched hundreds of hours of those programs that lovingly ogle the latest and greatest smart bombs and weapons, all with that macho narration in the background - "The shaped charge will penetrate 8 inches of solid armor plating!" (with emphasis on "8 inches").

Oddly enough, or maybe not so oddly, I can't watch that stuff anymore after they launched the latest attack in Iraq.  It makes me feel vaguely ashamed now.  I experienced the same feeling the last time I went and watched the Air Force Thunderbirds perform.  I really resent that.
