Murtha Must Testify in Defamation Case
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A federal judge refused Friday to dismiss a defamation case against Rep. John P. Murtha and ordered the Pennsylvania Democrat to give a sworn deposition in the case.
A Marine Corps sergeant is suing the 18-term congressman for alleging ''cold-blooded murder and war crimes'' by unnamed soldiers in connection with the deaths of Iraqi civilians in the town of Haditha.
The deaths became prominent in May 2006 when Murtha, who opposes the Iraq war, said at a Capitol Hill news conference that a Pentagon war crimes investigation will show Marines killed dozens of innocent Iraqi civilians in the town in 2005.

Murtha did stand up. He is not about supporting  cover ups of massacre in Haditha and lying about how Pat Tillman died. Or trying to cover up Abu Ghraib

These the specific marines you are proud of?

The Haditha killings (also called the Haditha incident or the Haditha massacre) refers to the incident where 24 Iraqis were killed on November 19 2005 in Haditha a city in the western Iraq province of Al Anbar. At least 15, and allegedly all, of those killed were noncombatant civilians and all are alleged to have been killed by a group of United States Marines. It has been alleged that the killings were retribution for the attack on a convoy of United States Marines with an IED that killed Lance Corporal Miguel Terrazas.

A Marine Corps communique initially reported that 15 civilians were killed by the bomb's blast and eight insurgents were subsequently killed when the Marines returned fire against those attacking the convoy. However, evidence uncovered by the media contradicted the Marines' account. The Time magazine reporter's questions prompted the U.S. military to open an investigation into the incident. The investigation claimed it found evidence that "supports accusations that U.S. Marines deliberately shot civilians, including unarmed women and children", according to an anonymous Pentagon official. On December 21 2006 eight Marines from 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines were charged in connection with the incident.

The specific Marine I am particularly proud of is Jack Murtha himself. In fact, here he is in action. Smile Jack, you're on candid camera! He is not about covering up what he did during AbuAbscam!

Now then, let's compare the words and deeds of Jack Murtha with those of Rush Limbaugh.

Where is the outrage?

All of those Marines arent off the hook. Yeah a couple of them arent going to be charged, but theres still a few guys who are still on the hook.

You gotta read a little closer there, Tex.

"All of those Marines arent off the hook. Yeah a couple of them arent going to be charged, but theres still a few guys who are still on the hook."

What happens if they are all exonerated? Will you be sad?

In fact, this causes me to wonder further. Do you take quiet satisfaction whenever there is an uptick in combat deaths?

I notice a lot of loud, congratulatory talk throughout the liberal blogosphere whenever violence erupts in Iraq.

I wonder how you would feel if violence in Iraq diminished to absolute zero?

Oh wait! I forgot! You're a liberal. You SUPPORT THE TROOPS!

If the Marine's are found innocent, then good for them.

Im not a politician--I can stand by what I think.

You dont seem to care that Soldiers and Marines are dying--you act like its a good thing to give you more fuel to talk crazy nonsense.

I support the troops because I USE TO BE ONE!! And they arent doing anything to help the country in Iraq trying to officiate a civil war in the making.

The troops need to come home, retrain, and repair their equipment and prepare for real threats, not this magical crazy talk that W's administration makes up.

Theres plenty of generals who think we need to leave and know better than to waste our forces in Iraq. Just like Admiral Fallon called Petreus a "chickensh*t"--th is war is a joke.

The Iraqis do not want a democracy, neither does the Middle East--they do not care...they have said so.

This war has no end in sight--it has taken longer than WWII and theres no progress being made except when Gen. "Betrayus" cooks the books and says things are better.

I'll bet money the violence wont go away--because it hasnt in 3000 YEARS!!!

No amount of bombs and bullets will secure that region for us to make money off it for corporations...its a pipe dream and the Arabs arent stupid.

Your gibberish is so flawed that you cant even use Republican talking points to back you up because they arent even true...

I'm sorry Cal, but it looks like all of the Marines will be exonerated. Please don't be upset.

"The troops need to come home, retrain, and repair their equipment and prepare for real threats."

You may have heard that the troops are busy battling al Qaeda in Afghanistan, Iraq and also some covert raids into Pakistan. What "real threat" did you have in mind?

Are we supposed to spend a trillion dollars every year so the most powerful military in the world can rest and relax and repair and retrain and rejuvinate and recreate and reconnoiter and rendevous at home in America?

Jack Murtha in Vietnam:

Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry

Rush Limbaugh in denial on his draft deferment:

" You see, that’s part of popular mythology that is out there that I have not whined nor complained about, Greg. But that is just a bunch of internet BS and hyperbole. Never happened. Was not the cause, wasn’t the case"
