Acroso, you freakin' moron. Stop it!

When you post the huge pictures, you screw with the viewing of many, many visitors to the site who use the "Forum" page. I have asked you before and you have ignored me, maybe some other people can either back me or tell me to back off.

Don't you know how to re-size a photo? The TIME one you posted of that horrible Reagan at 344 x 453 works fine, but your Fox screenshot at 800 x 833 is too freakin' BIG! Keep them to 400 wide ATM and it won't be an issue.

PHP bulletin boards are fluid creatures. They adapt to the viewing area settings of individual machines. The comments sections are not MEANT to host fill-the-screen pictures.

Please, for ONCE in your miserable little life, will you consider others? Will you, once and for all, remember that you are NOT the King of the Internet where everyone must bow to your posting whims? Nor should WE be forced to suffer the consequences of your selfishness.

Don't do it for me. Do it for The Turks. Stop crappin' where you eat.

As Board Admin, do you have a way of limiting the size of an image?

by MedfordTim on 11/14/2007 07:10:15 AM EST

As embarrassing as it is, our photo system is very primitive.  When necessity demands, we will improve it. So for now, I can't set limits to photo sizes.  If I can do anything to fix these things, it would all be manual.

Another troll trick...I checked...some the photos he posts are are puposely oversized from the orignal source.

He will always post under the comment link to start a new thread and ensure the photo disrupts the thread

Can we do something about this?

by MRFred on 11/14/2007 09:38:34 AM EST

if ( $user_img != '' )
   {
      $user_img = "<table width=\"100%\"&nb sp; border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" ><tr>"
       ."<td>< div style=\"position:relat ive; width:100%; height:100px; z-index:1; left: 0px; top: 0px; overflow:hidden\"  ; class=\"postbody\" ;>"
      .$user_img
      ."</div>&l t;/td></tr></ta ble>";

Something like that....is this VER2?

The forums are for conversation, where we can agree and disagree, and get information, share experiences. Trolls don't want to have a conversation that's two-sided.

Trolls leave dozens of extra spaces after their [few lines of] comment so that it looks like there are no more posts below theirs.

Trolls hijack topics and change the subject to their narrow-minded irrelevant rant and then devolve into unwarranted insults.

Trolls act like the only way to "win" a conversation is to cheat--like BushCo. It's a conversation! It's two-way. There's no winner, but there are plenty of losers when the forum is hijacked by trolls who don't care about topic that other members post. It's one thing to get sidetracked, but hijacking serves no purpose except to disrupt the forum. [I once kicked out a roommate like that.]

Being rude like that is the trolls' way of getting attention, to get you to recognize them but when you/I have a topic to discuss, they do the blog equivalent of covering their ears and yelling,

     "LALALALALALALALALALAL ALALALALALA!!!"

by zenie on 11/14/2007 12:14:14 PM EST

Just wanted to note that sometimes if you don't preview a message, extra spaces are sometimes added.

You make some good points about so-called "trolls" but I can't stand that name.  I stopped going to Daily Kos because all I heard was people accusing each other of being "trolls."  If you have a problem with something, I say call them out on it and don't revert to primitive name calling....

Besides some random personal feuds, I feel this forum is very open to conversation - Troll - "what name so?"

Sometimes an extra space appears within a URL. That's acceptable for basic forum software. The solution is to use the link button to post URLs.

I'm not talking about a few extra or random spaces. I'm referring to the deliberate addition of many vertical spaces:

Like this, except it's often 20 or 30 or more spaces. That's no accident nor bad software. Trolls happily add the excess spaces just to annoy us.

What's a troll? It's an old Usenet term dating back to the days of bulletin boards in the 1980s. Just like the trolls under the bridges in Scandinavia that exist to cause trouble and mischief [it's also a fishing term], Internet trolls are like the redneck kids in my son's middle school who would walk down the hall and pick a random classmate, punch him for no reason, and say, "Hi, wanna fight?", mostly because they have nothing else to say or do. Getting attention like that, ending up in the principal's office and detention, was better than being ignored, at least to those kids.

Trolls tend to disappear when you ignore them--better than giving up a good forum because of a few trouble-makers.

Interesting members with a few bad habits usually can become less annoying when requested.

You better be careful. A "reg" might change their nic to one that looks like yours and  gay bash to make you look bad ( I still don't get how making homophobic ignorant statements would make ME look bad.. but thats the tactic they used)

According to 3 or 4 posters who have special rights because they have posted here longer than you or I. There are no trolls.. Just people they would love to party with and like  but disagree with. You will be chastized if you dont take this dumbfounding  view.  Or at least I was. Oh and you will be refered to as Tiny as well. I still dont know what that one means.

The Fox News pic I posted was in my own topic\blog.

Have I put any other oversized photos anywhere?

by acroso on 11/14/2007 01:24:20 PM EST

Oddly enough, each of us who start a thread start them in our own diary section. The subject at hand is your inability to create your own topic/blog without screwing up the whole site for EVERYONE ELSE through your single-minded sefishness.

That doesn't mean they STAY there. Your posts go right into the Forum mix, and your actions affect EVERYBODY ELSE.

Stop arguing and just do it. How hard can it be to keep your photos 400 pixels or less wide?

by MedfordTim on 11/14/2007 01:50:57 PM EST

OK.....

This is the first time I heard you complain about it. For me there is no problem with displays or texts or anything like that eith regard to photos over 400x400 so I think that is an issue with your computer. They just appears larger at least for me so I didn't know that it caused problems for you. When I intentionally find a pic to post I normally do make it small when I resize but I have SO many photos on photobucket that lots of times I just randomly select an existing one. Otherwise I have to download it, resize it, and then reupload it back to photobucket. Anyways

Or you could just not click on the blogs I post or the photos I put in them rather than get so worked up about them or maybe ask politely next time that I make them differently?

This software package can do mass-resize operations on an entire directory of files.  Enjoy.

I'm not interested in your excuses, I want you to FIX the problem. I have made the request more than once over the last year or so; and you aren't the only one. It seems that others had more interest than you do. It has never surprised me when you fail to take facts into consideration before doing things (or...not). Yes, I do that too (more often than I would like) but your ability to ignore and twist whatever you want is beyond compare.

"It just appears larger"...do you have even the barest inkling of how web pages work? Evidently not, so just take our word for it. You could probably go up to 600 px wide without affecting the PHP "boundaries" but keeping around 400 is safe, sane, manageable, and still gets across whatever point you want to make.

Spend a little time in your "photobucket", check their sizes, resize the ones that need it, then you can add them without worry. If it's important enough to post, you should care enough to post it right. Stop being so damn lazy and selfish.

And for cryin' put loud, learn how to take some personal responsibility for your actions - intended or otherwise.

The Reagan picture (as much as the bastard gives me nightmares) was the example of "okay - no problem." It was my mistake in attributing it to Acrosa.

His offending post is in "Romney hits Giuliani where it hurts." with a huge Fox screenshot. Which he STILL hasn't fixed, btw...what an inconsiderate bastard he is, eh?
