Trent Wisecup, the Joe Knollenberg staffer who famously shouted, "You're pro-Toyota, buddy!" to a Young Turks listener has stepped down from the Congressman's office. He is taking a "leave of absence." Maybe to figure out what it means to be an American (he also told our listener that he was "un-American" for thinking we should leave Iraq).
We have decided that we are going to send Cong. Knollenberg the "Enough" and "Young Turks" t-shirts he inquired about in the video. Read our letter to the Congressman and watch the video that made Wisecup famous below:
Dear Cong. Joe Knollenberg,
We at The Young Turks noticed that you were interested in our T-shirts when you opened a dialogue with a concerned voter of yours in a convenience store in Rochester, MI. You inquired into the origin of the T-shirt Bruce Fealk was wearing when chatting with him on camera and asked him where he got it.
Well, he got it from us. It is an "Enough" T-shirt that expresses our exasperation with this war and this administration. When we first started that campaign one of the things we wanted was for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign. I guess you Republicans would call that "Mission Accomplished." But there is much more work to be done.
However, today we don't want to focus on that, instead we want to bring us together. Although we don't agree with many of your stances here at The Young Turks, we nonetheless, in the spirit of good sportsmanship and bipartisanship, wanted to pass along the "Enough" T-shirt you asked about and our original "The Young Turks" T-shirt that was the subject of your follow-up question.
We are heartened to hear of your avid interest in Air America programming. We hope that you continue to listen, as it shows an admirable quality of open-mindedness on your part. Oh yeah, one more thing, if you could turn that legendary open-mindedness toward the issue of reconsidering our disastrous, open-ended occupation of Iraq, we would really appreciate it.
