One man stands: Chris Dodd to filibuster FISA spy legislation

Today Chris Dodd is going to take the floor of the Senate chamber and not let go of it in order to prevent the passage of legislation that would not only reauthorize and extend the NSA surveillance program on millions of Americans, but would grant retroactive immunity from prosecution to the telecom companies that participated in this illegal program.

He says become one of the "Dodd Squad".

Thats funny.  You gotta love that.

Don't know if I want Dodd to be my President, but I'll take him as a Senator any day.

Anybody who understands how it all works, please explain why it's Chris Dodd and not another Senator.   For example, we all love Feingold and constantly praise him. So why isn't he the one filibustering this, or all the other terrible bills that have been passed over the past few years?  For that matter, what about Ted Kennedy?  Or for goddsake Bernie Sanders?  What makes one Senator filibuster?  What makes others who are equally supportive of that strong position not filibuster?  I would like to understand how it all works.

I'm at a complete loss. They should all be standing together on this, at the very least you'd think Feingold would be there. I'm with you yturks, I just don't get it.

My Guess is that it's some inside baseball crap.  Who knows?  What I do know however is that the Republicans have raped and pillaged this country while the Dems stood by and watched.  In 10 years (or less)  a new crop of republican savages will emerge and say "We disavow the old Republican party, they did terrible things to our Democracy.  Unfortunately the Democrats had not the courage or competancy to stand up to these past Republicans.  So vote for us we'll give you tax breaks, no abortion, and rule of law as we see fit"

Sadly this Neo-Neo Repub Douche' bag will be almost 100% correct.

Or something like this, but not so overt of course.

The Founders are rolling over in their graves.

It's nice to see one of the Democrats fight...but does this matter compared to the Iraq war funding?

just curious.
