Heisman Trophy Speech

Religion was a big topic in the news this week with Romney's speech and Huckabee's rise.  As disgusting as it all was, I was able to handle it.  But tonight's speech by Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow made me lose my lunch.  And please explain why God was so cruel to McFadden, Daniel and Brennan.

I'd like to read/see it if at all possible.

Colt Brennan would have been my vote, but sadly I don't get one of those.

Also, only tangentially related, GO GIANTS!  Two in a row, baby!  #5 seed is (almost) ours!  The Big Blue Road Show does it again.

From the Rock Report:

First and foremost, no one's going to watch this slate of bowls this year. They're all but unwatchable. There are two games that look palatable. But more importantly, the process is so rigged by coaches juicing the rankings and BCS bullying, there's little probability of fairness. The "system" is collapsing on itself.

There are some endemic problems with the BCS beginning with purpose. The BCS is an affiliation between super conferences to consolidate power. It wasn't formed to produce a true champion, it was formed to stave off a playoff. It's actually the third iteration of Bowl Alliances all formed with intention of saving the bowl system.

Right now the BCS super conferences control almost all of the power and most of the money. For the most part, it's been okay, but now two phenomenons are rigging the system: lack of accountability for scheduling and coach's favoritism.

Thoughts?

The only way we can move more rapidly in the direction of a playoff is if LSU beats OSU 100-0.

Then the proponents of a playoff (99% of all college football fans) could point to OSU as the team who came into the national championship as the top BCS seed, as a direct result of playing a silly regular season of nobodies, and then end up demolished in the big game.

As an Irish fan, it's practically a moral obligation to hate OSU, but LSU's coach is this phenomenally annoying redneck.

I think I'm rooting for LSU because honestly, I have no dislike for the team as a whole, and most LSU fans I've met have been pretty classy folks.  I definitely can't say the same for THE Ohio State University.

So, sure.  100-0 sounds good.

Your hatred of Ohio State is understandable I guess since you haven't beaten us in 71 years.

Anyway I'd love for the Buckeyes to go into the game as 100 point underdogs (or even 7 point underdogs).  Right now it is LSU -4.5 to 5.5.  Either way, I much perfer being the dog going into this game.  Last year not only did they have such a long layoff, but they had everyone out there telling them how great they were.  They had Troy Smith gobbling up they buffets and packing on 15 extra pounds of flab.  This year they will be much more focused.  They still might lose, LSU is good, but it won't be anything like the last year.

By the way, if anyone wants a sure bet, take Michigan +10 over Florida.  I know, I hate michigan more than anyone and their bowl record has been miserable lately, but Heisman trophy winners have a very poor record in bowl games.  Also, Henne and Hart need to impress scouts with a good bowl game to help their draft prospects.

is the way they keep sneaking into the BCS national championship.

It's not their fault. It's the stupid BCS system.

None of this will change until we have a play-off. Now they're talking about +1 playoff in 2011. That is purely a response to all of the pressure, but it is too little, too late.

The major opponents to change are the Big 10, the Pac 10, the Rose Bowl, and the city of Pasadena. Talk about a special interest group!

Something like 54 days until the national championship this year.

Would you want a 4 team playoff months after the football season ends?

The current system isn't much more than a circus show anyway.

Everyone keeps playing 12 games a season, and THEN you start the playoffs right after that.

What do we think of that?  Sure it might run things into the next semester, but does anyone really mind having even more college football?  I sure don't.

Best plan I've seen yet!  The greatest tradition in college football is controversy, this plan is sure to privide that in spades!

Here is Tebow's speech thanking his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  But please note, He is not OUR Lord and Savior - HE is just Tim Tebow's Lord and Savior.

He is a kid, and he is justifiably excited, so I can excuse his dumb shout outs to GatorNation, the repetitiveness, and the over-eagerness.

By the way, if LSU beats Ohio State 100-0, that is just what God ordained and it would be folly for humans to further tinker with the BCS system and the apparent will of God.  Romney is right - I think all decisions affecting the public should be made in accordance with God's will, and with some golden tablets that can only be read by select people who stick their heads inside hats.

That girl is really good looking, but her breasts are comically large, and they also can't possibly be real.

If you can believe in angels playing harps in the sky, I can believe in those breasts.

He might be a Heisman Trophy winner, but the kid is only 19 years old. As you can see, he's still being breast fed.

Name one UF QB that won the Heisman ( or anything else) that made it in the pros.....and yes that includes the "Ol Ball Coach"

"Freedom is important to Republicans as long as someone else pays for it on the battlefield and on April 15th."
