Jeffrey Feldman at Frameshop has the best idea I've come across in dealing with the Republican smear machine. A proposed DNC Task Force On Republican Smear would recognize that a well funded, organized right wing smear machine afflicts the whole Democratic party with each attack. Therefore, it needs to be dealt with on a party wide level, instead of leaving it to the individual campaigns to respond. Feldman has drawn up a complete outline for how it would work and gives an example of material that would have quickly given Edwards ammo on Bill Donohue over the blogger flap. This is something I'm trying to circulate because it is so obviously needed. It's absolutely brilliant and a must read.
