No Weapons of Mass Destruction

Using Cenk's standards, all of these Democrats are liars.
Words of Mass Destruction.

Top Ten: Myths of the Iraq War

"No Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). Several hundred chemical weapons were found, and Saddam had all his WMD scientists and technicians ready. Just end the sanctions and add money, and the weapons would be back in production within a year. At the time of the invasion, all intelligence agencies, world-wide, believed Saddam still had a functioning WMD program. Saddam had shut them down because of the cost, but created the illusion that the program was still operating in order to fool the Iranians. The Iranians wanted revenge on Saddam because of the Iraq invasion of Iran in 1980, and the eight year war that followed."

Make sure to read the "Origins" section under the quotes.

The statements are true, no doubt about it, but by suggesting from that that Cenk is wrong is too big a jump! Re-read all those statements 1999 and before - all true, and guess what? The policy in effect at that time (albeit misused and causing misery among the Iraqi people) did it's job!! Yes, they were saying it would be horrible for Saddam to restart his WMD program, but at the same time, he didn't have the capability to do so, and we prevented him from being able to. As the weapons Inspectors who were allowed back in a few years later confirmed. Scott Ritter ring a bell? Hans Blix? BEFORE the invasion saying "There's no THERE there!"

So Bush took a policy that was working, threw it out the window and invaded Iraq illegally to stop a program that didn't exist.

In fact, it gives me a little more respect for John Kerry. Read his words. His might possibly have been the most tempered comment of all:

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force — if necessary — to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
    Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002.

Thing was, it wasn't necessary. And by invasion day, George Bush knew it and continued with the invasion. George Bush was using the power of his office to manipulate the information the people who made those comments were relying on for valid information on which to make those statements. Garbage in, garbage out.

Yes, I wish more of the lazy bastards had questioned the info ala Feingold and Kucinich, but it was the assbite in charge who had the cards hidden up his sleeve. The buck stops with The Decider of what lies to put out to further his case.

...Is just the failed rehash of the revolving door of changing justifications used 2 years ago. All debunked and shot down.

Still, the only WMD's ever found had been old ones used during the Iran/Iraq war (remember we gave Iraq tactical intellegence and know how to use them on teh Kurds and Iran at that time, see Donald Runsfeld?") These do not count as a stockpile of WMD ready to be used by terrorists.

If a "weapon" has disintigrated beyond usability, it is not a Weapon of Mass Destruction; it is a Weapon of Mass Distraction - and it gives cover to morons who insist that ANY amount of WMD's prove we HAD to invade - you know, to save the world!

As far as the "debunking" - read it at your own Swopes link - BELOW the quotes part. What did you do, just search until you found a bunch of Dem quotes and not actually read the frickin' page?

My Guy Was Misquoted, Yours Was Paraphrased

"Anyone who seriously questions Snopes’s bias need only compare this to this."

I knew there was a list of quote from democrats about Iraq's WMD.

I posted the snopes link as you guys would reject any right-wing blog with the quotes.

Also see for snopes bias.

Snope-a-Dope, Part MCLXI

"This just in, via Dean - Snopes isn’t always as reliable as it holds itself out to be. This will come as a huge surprise to regular readers of this blog.

Oh, BTW, don’t forget to boycott Target, who really deserves the faux French pronunciation of their name.

UPDATE: Lonewacko offers another gem from Snopes, where they conclude that since some guy wrote a spoof of the federal investigation concerning the New Orleans police farce, that must mean the investigation isn’t real, either."

Who wrote your "top ten myths?"

Where's the proof that any of the "debunking&qu ot; comments has a shred of truth to them?

Do you have a problem with the Snopes page you linked to, or were you just warning us about other possible inaccuracies?

Here's the real hard one: What do you think about those "ten myths" Do you agree with them? Why? What do you know that drives your train of thought?
