According to the BBC, the UK is withdrawing 1,600 troops and possibly another 500 by late summer. That leaves 5,500 troops who could remain there into 2008 "to give backup if necessary"

Let's hope those helicopters are there if Iran kicks off. As Cenk says the British troops in Basra will be right in the middle of a huge backlash if that happens.
