US generals `will quit' if Bush orders Iran attack

I was listening to TYT discussing Bush's possible attack on Iran. This adds something interesting to the mix

SOME of America’s most senior military commanders are prepared to resign if the White House orders a military strike against Iran, according to highly placed defence and intelligence sources.

"There are four or five generals and admirals we know of who would resign if Bush ordered an attack on Iran,” a source with close ties to British intelligence said. “There is simply no stomach for it in the Pentagon, and a lot of people question whether such an attack would be effective or even possible."

"I'll believe it when I see it."

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see it, but there have been many opportunities since we illegally invaded and occupied Iraq for these guys to take a moral stand in this fashion, and it ain't happened yet.

First of all they cant "quit". They serve at the discression of the President at that level...he can deny their retirement.

Secondly these guys would never resign after an attack.

You'll know that the attack is at hand when you see a bunch of retirements of Flag officers announced...

Didn't these four or five generals take an oath to defend the Constitution? When the Commander in Chief orders military action, what is their responsibility?

Why don't they just go ahead and resign today, and then become paid guest analysts on MSNBC and CNN? There's an opening at MSNBC. Ken Allard said he could no longer stomach Keith Olbermann's bullshit, and he was afraid he might get arrested for kicking his skinny, lying ass.

in the US military.  These are not pussies.  FIVE of them believe so strongly that the surge is BAD FOR AMERICA that they will quit if forced to execute it.  What does that tell you, Ken?  I guarantee they know more than either one of us about military tactics and strategy.

Well what level generals are these folks?

That is immaterial, acroso.

Also, I want to call myself on my own error: it's not about the surge, it's about Iran.  Regardless.

I disagree,

if they are all 4 star generals, then they are MUCH more significant than if they are all brigadier generals since there are so few four stars and so many 1 stars ones. Not that the opinions of one star generals don’t matter at all, but having senior commanders at the highest levels makes the criticism more important. That’s why I’m curious what their ranks are.

You scream abou the troops and support and all your bullshit yet you are clueless about the military.
