Agree with Jill

As a longtime Listener...

As a longtime listener (from back in the Wichita Weekend days), I must agree with the comments Jill Pike made on the AT today.  Seems like the shorter segments, FCC regulations, and directive from AA to be more political have stifled the show somewhat.  I still love TYT, but the breaks are so long I can't really stay engaged with the discussion.  On the other hand, I think the Absolute Truth is so good that someday Jill Pike will be far more famous than Cenk ever dreamed of being.  ;)  Just kidding, guys!  Keep up the good work on both shows.  I'm just being nostalgic for the good old days of Sirius Left.  I'm really happy you added AT to keep us old timers entertained.

I was surprised to hear Jill's comments on the AT. I'm a newer listener to TYT and never heard the sirius program. I enjoy TYT and the AT very much the way they are. I don't need random swear words and "edgy" skits to enjoy the shows. Don't get me wrong, vulgar humor can be extremley funny and I strongly disagree with FCC's restrictions on shows, but my point is that TYT and AT are still great shows with excellent content and don't loose their appeal just because someone can't say the word fuck. So for Jill to talk negatively about a show she is part of doesn't make any sense to me. It is obvious by listening to the shows that Cenk and Ben are passionate about the topics they are discussing. For Jill to say the only reason she does the show is because Cenk wants her to and doesn't feel that the show is going to progress any further, fills in the blank for me as to why she is no longer a part of TYT show.

She is insane. She says off things once in a while. heh.. Its all good with me .  I agree she should be able to say the word fuck  . Its a great word.  Im glad she is good enough friends with Cenk .. to continue doing the show.

You know who comes to mind when mixing humor with politics was mentioned. Stephanie Miller. The show is great and does well ratings wise. The show is great when Elaine Boosler guest hosts it as well. Shes funny smart and politically savvy.

... but some of what Jill said sounded like she wasn't kidding around and crossed the bounds of friendship, nevermind the employer-employee relationship.

I agree completely with what Jill said. The show's been stifled tremendously since the move to Air America. It seems the network has tried to suck as much fun and edge out of the show as possible. It seems Air America still has not figured out why their shows have, by and large, gone by the wayside and that's because they care more about preaching to the liberal choir than providing entertaining radio that includes politics.

Even political junkies like myself can become nauseous if I was forced to listen to nonstop political talk on the radio. It just ends up being each show ranting about the same things each day in a slightly different way than the previous one. I think if Air America ever wants to have any sort of lasting success, it will be to hire more entertaining radio people like TYT and then just loosen the reigns on these programs so they can have the ability to develop the best program each of them can without fear of Air America cracking the whip at any given moment.

It may have been slightly inappropriate for Jill to say the things she said in public, but for me at least, it was nice to know there's someone working there that is willing to acknowledge the reality of what Air America has done to the show. I still love the show despite what's happened to it in recent months, but I know it could be so much better if the atmosphere was as loose and fun as it was during the Sirius days, which included Jill as a host.

Having been a long, long time listener - though not as long as Q - I long for the old days of chat rooms, Cenk's unbelievale tirades/ fits of rage, The Parent Trap (tm), and all the crazy stuff that would come out of everyone's mouth when they could take callers instead of breaking for 10min before the 30sec reverse bump (as in, 10 min of commercials, 30 seconds of show, back to 4 min of commercials).

But hey, AA is a different beast and I appreciate the efforts of Cenk and Jill to bring it back to the semi-old school, semi-new school happy medium.  Unfortunately it's all about celebritism... but whatever.  Jill's hot and Cenk's got some funny as hell stuff to say.

In any case.  I've stuck with TYT since I got hooked on radiopower.org/iTunes and I've stuck with them through 2 screen name changes (defgeoff25, defgeoff256... RIP) and I'll stick with them until they finally get their much coveted TV show.  But then I'll stop, 'cause by then they will have sold out  ;-)

I am still having Dogan and Holly withdrawals. I should probably go to a 'spa' for that.
