FDA recall of Zelnorm a very bad idea!

I sent the following letter to my Senator, Sen Bill Nelson because the FDA has recalled the medication Zelnorm and there is not an equivalent medication on the market.
If you want your doctor to be able to treat you with what is best and the FDA be damned, please read my letter to Sen Nelson and if you can contact you representative and we can change this stupid ruling, it could save my Mom's life.
Mom not having the medication could create many complications.

Sen Nelson,
Help! I am real concerned about this stupid recall by the FDA on Zelnorm.
There is not an equivalent medication to Zelnorm that will work for my Mom's irritable bowel syndrome along with her Loopy bowel Syndrome.
The FDA is saying there is a minor risk to heart problems related to this medication but it isn't going to make a damn bit of difference if my Mom can't go to the bathroom.
The decision to use or not use this medication should be left to her doctor and no one else.
I think this recall has more to do with the manufacture being out of Switzerland and not one of our Heritage Foundation Neo Con ass kissing money funding Pharmaceutical Companies.
If I sound mad it is because I am. Mom went through a lot before we found a medication that worked for her and she just had surgery to fix a tare in her rectum and has about two weeks of medication left.
I plan to contact media about this and this is your heads up.
My Mom has been a voice supporting you for a long time as have I.

My wife is a pharmacist and we were disscussing this the other day. She says that since there is no real replacement for Zelnorm, what usually happens is that they do not totally pull the drug, but allow it to be given to extreme cases with close doctor supervision. Therefore it will not be given out like candy to everyone who runs into their doctors office yelling "I saw the commercial last night and I need it".

Unfortunately for your mom is that drug companies in the past have pushed their drugs when they know that there are older, safer, and cheaper alternatives available. Think Vioxx on that one. And the price will most likely go up if they don't pull it completely.

So I would talk to her doctor and pharmacist about this and wish you luck.
