Note to Self: When leaving Iraq don't forget to take the oil.

No Oil No Problem
Breitbart reports that Dick Cheney, US Presid .. I mean US Vice President returned from a week-long visit to the “Middle East” and that he (personally) had won support for US (thought we were a coalition of the willing?) efforts to stabilize war (occupational) – torn Iraq and that this (arm twisting) backing was not contingent on making progress on the Israeli-Palestinian peace (killing) process. Though doing so is a key (yea right) US goal.
“I do not think it’s everything or nothing. I do believe there are a number of issues that need to be worked on simultaneously. You don’t get to pick and choose.” The vice president told reporters.
What the hell does that mean? You know this administration says things and they go bouncing around my skull like a ping pong ball. It’s like: “If we fight them over there we don’t have to fight them
here.” To this day that statement still makes my left eye twitch.
Okay, so let’s think what could this whole thing be about?
- Finding the kidnapped soldiers being held by Sunni rebels?
- Finding peace in Gaza?
- Preventing the complete collapse of the Pakistan government?
- Holding back the Taleban from overrunning the Afgan capital.
Finding Bin laden? - Building ties with Iran to stabilize Iraq?
- Ending the US occupation of Iraq?
Well let’s see what Dick has to say:
"I think these are all important issues, and we need to work on all of them," said Cheney, whose trip began with a two-day surprise trip to Iraq, then stops in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan.
Cheney said he found "a greater sense of urgency" among Iraqi leaders than he had seen before but warned the Baghdad government that time was running out to make progress on key issues tied to national reconciliation.
National reconciliation – I wonder exactly what does that means? Maybe there is a plan to establish a peaceful relationship between the Sunni’s and Shiites? Could be a discussion on what to do with the millions of Iraqi refuges or bringing in humanitarian aid to the starving war-torn children of Bagdad?
"There's not a lot of time to be wasted here, and it's important to move aggressively on the business of the day," he said he told them in meetings in the Iraqi capital on Wednesday.
"Part of the message obviously was that they need to be actively and aggressively getting after solutions to these problems," including passing an oil-revenue sharing law and getting jobs for minor players in ousted dictator Saddam Hussein's Baath Party, he said.
Oh, how silly of me. It’s about the money. Cheney needs to have the
big oil company contracts signed by the Iraqi government before the American people throw his ass out of office. He needs the Arab governments to put pressure on the Iraq Sunni’s to sign the contract.
Of course, that’s what it is. How could I think someone who shot his friend in the face and then didn’t even go to the hospital to visit him would have any consideration for the horrific suffering our occupation has caused?
